Esther is a key figure of the Mountain Bike world. MTB marathon world champion in 2010, 7 times swiss champion and still third last year at the european championship. This year she will try in particular to win the swiss championship in Evolène and to qualify for the olympic games in Rio in XCO
You have a very ambitious program this year, trying at the same time to qualify for the Olympics in Rio in cross country and being performant on the marathon races. How is it going so far?
I struggle a little bit in the first races in XCO 🙁 but I still have any chance so „NEVER GIVE UP“ 😉 but I still like to race marathon races, that’s also the matter why I prefer to race the XCM Swiss Champs instead of the XCO in Heubach!
How do you train to be strong on those two pretty different disciplines?
The training is not so different, I mean have a look to Dahle, Langvard or Spitz all good XCO as well XCM riders!
What will be your race program until the Swiss championship?
The next two XCO world cups in Albstadt and La Bresse and then the home XCO race in Gränichen!
You won your 7th title in Evolène last year! How many more do you plan to get ?
As much as I can get 🙂 As long as I have fun on competition I will do it!
Last year you managed to pass Ariane very late in the race, at the end of the last big hill. What will be critical to win this year?
I have to look how my day form is and how the race is going on! Last year I had really problem with the flower pollen and I don’t know I can manage it this season, we will see!
Ariane and you seem to be the two big favorites for the Swiss championship again. What is your prognostic for this race?
That I win the title again!! I fight for it!! 🙂
